The four visual perceptions of depth perception,dynamic vision,dark adaptation,and night vision have an important impact on safe driving.The test results of these four capabilities can be used as a reference for the driver's screening,recruitment,assessment,training and other work.Traditional test instruments use mechanical motion and electronic control to achieve test functions.There are problems such as unidirectionality,complex structure,low efficiency,and poor reliability.Applying VR technology to testing will overcome the problems of traditional instruments and facilitate the extensive development of driver vision testing.The driver vision VR test system was designed with reference to the industry standard JT/T 442–2014.The system design goals,design principles,test plans,and test level basis are established.According to the design scheme,the VR test software was developed by using Unity 3D,Visual Studio,SQLite database,C# programming language and other tools.It has user and administrator login,user detection,data storage and management,and voice prompts.A hardware system with a VR head-mounted display device and a Logitech G29 steering wheel as test and feedback devices was designed.To verify the effectiveness of the VR test system,32 subjects were tested in traditional instruments and VR test systems.Correlation analysis of the test results showed that the correlation coefficients of the four tests reached 0.612,0.702,0.671,and 0.726,respectively,and had good correlation.A paired sample T test was used to test the two sets of test data and found that there was a significant difference between the mean values of the two test results.The VR test system can replace the traditional instrument in function,but there is a difference between the test result of the VR test system and the test result of the traditional instrument.According to the difference between the two sets of test results,the regression analysis was carried out,and the functional relationship between the test results of the test items mapped from the VR system to the traditional test results was established,and the calculation method of the single test score was determined.According to the comprehensive evaluation method of driving suitability in the standard JT/T 442–2014,four visual test items are separately listed to establish a comprehensive evaluation method for driver's visual ability.The VR-based driver vision test system realizes the functions of traditional test instruments,overcomes the shortcomings of traditional test instruments,and has the advantages of high data accuracy,high test efficiency,high test automation,and easy management of test data.It is a more advanced modern test method.
