Since the highway reconstruction and expansion project covers wide area and occupies many lanes,the length of reconstruction and expansion work zone is long and the traffic organization near the work zone is complicated.Therefore,driving safety and traffic flow stability in reconstruction and expansion work zone were seriously influenced,and the impact characteristics are significantly different from other construction operation areas.It is necessary to analyze the driving behavior of the reconstruction and construction work zone and discuss the impact of key parameters of the facility setting on driving behavior.Firstly,according to the domestic and international standards and the domestic traffic organization examples of highway reconstruction and expansion projects,some key parameters of the facility setting was selected to study,including the distance between adjacent work zones,the type of speed limit signs in the warning area and the distance of adjacent transition sections in the transition area.Then the driving simulator scenes of highway reconstruction and expansion work zones were established.Based on the scenes,driving simulator experiment was designed and conducted.30 participants attended in the experiment,including novice drivers and skilled drivers.Their velocity,acceleration,the pressure on brake pedal and steering wheel corner were recorded.Multivariate analysis of variance was used to compare the differences in driving behaviors under different facility settings.Moreover,multivariate linear regression analysis was used to study the influence level of different traffic facility settings on key driving behaviors.The results show that the speed when entering the warning area is related to the distance between the adjacent work zones.The speed is significantly accelerated when distance is long.The start position of deceleration is related to the driving experience.The skilled driver's deceleration position is significantly advanced.The mean value of deceleration is affected by the interaction between the type of speed limit signs and distance between work zones.When the distance is long and setting single speed limit sign,the mean value of deceleration increases significantly.The deceleration mean is also affected by the interaction between the type of speed limit signs and the driving experience.In the case of setting single speed limit sign,the novice drivers' deceleration mean value is significantly increased.Whether the driver can complete the deceleration before passing the speed limit sign is related to the type of speed limit signs.When setting single speed limit sign,drivers failed to complete the deceleration before the speed limit sign more frequently.The starting and ending positions of lane change are mainly affected by the driving experience.Novice drivers' starting positions are earlier,but the ending positions are lagging.The speed at the start of the lane change is mainly affected by the distance between transition sections.When the interval of the transition section is small,the speed is also small.The speed at the end of the lane change is influenced by the interaction between the transition interval and the driving experience.Compared to other cases,when the transition interval is small,Novice drivers' average speed at the end of the lane change is significantly reduced.The lane change duration is affected by the transition interval and driving experience respectively.When the transition interval is small,the lane change lasts longer.The novice driver spends more time changing lane than the skilled driver.According to the result of the multivariate linear regression analysis of deceleration,it can be found that the speed at the start of the deceleration behavior has a greater influence on the dependent variable.Therefore,when setting the speed limit sign of the work zone,it's better to set them at 1/4 position of warning area so that drivers can decelerate early.According to the result of the multivariate linear regression analysis of the lane change duration,it can be found that the driving experience has a greater influence on the dependent variable.Therefore,it is necessary to pay attention to training and improving driving skills of the novice driver.After easing the tension of the novice driver,they can complete the lane change quicker and safer,and then reduce traffic delays.
