In recent years,the research of optical technology and the development of optical devices are growing rapidly in exponential form,this is due to the rapid development of industrial demand.High integration is one of the inevitable directions of its development.The fabrication technology of optical fiber sensing is the cornerstone of its development.Here,we utilize fused biconical taper machine equipment to continue to explore new fabrication techniques.As an important development direction in optical fiber waveguide,the optical waveguide theory and fabrication technology of tapered fiber are rapidly developing and maturing.The study shows that when the structure size of single-mode fiber changes,the characteristics of the fiber also change dramatically.According to the relationship between the change of structure size and the change of optical fiber characteristics,we found a new structure optical waveguide or a new optical waveguide theory.Using these new research results,people have developed various optical fiber devices with new functions.Therefore,the theory and technology of tapered fiber have great research value and practical application value.S-shaped tapered fiber structure is a new type of special fiber structure in tapered fiber.It is based on the principle of inter-modal interference.It can also be said that the S-shaped tapered fiber structure is a highly integrated micro new M-Z interferometer.The S-shaped tapered fiber structure realizes the functions of light splitting,sensing and coupling on a microstructure.In this paper,the theoretical analysis,fabrication process and sensing characteristics of S-tapered fiber are discussed.A detailed study of S-tapered fiber is made systematically.In theoretical analysis,we use mathematical modeling to simplify the problem.The straight taper fiber and S taper fiber are analyzed mathematically.Simulation software is used to simulate its mode and frequency.In the preparation process,we use fiber fusion tapering machine to explore the preparation process of s-shaped taper fiber.The influence factors of s-shaped tapered fiber are analyzed.In the study of sensing characteristics,we finally studied the temperature,stress and refractive index sensing characteristics of S-shaped tapered fiber samples.We designed and built a liquid circulation detection system.Complete the refractive index sensing detection with glucose aqueous solution,and the maximum sensitivity obtained was 814.92nm/RIU.The system resolution is 8.72 x 10-6 RIU?refractive index unit?.
