With the economic globalization, the Bay Area economy has become a vital growth pole for global economic growth. The reason why the Bay Area economy has a unique advantage in economic growth is largely due to the unique geographical conditions of the Bay Area in the marine economy.Modern port groups, convenient waterways and developed urban groups are typical of the world's famous Bay Area. With the publication of the “Government Work Report of 2017” and the “Greater Bay Area Development Plan”,the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has been upgraded to an important strategic position in the overall development of China. It is the fourth largest bay area after the New York Bay Area, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Tokyo Bay Area. Therefore, studying the relationship between port groups in Greater Bay Area and regional economic growth is of great significance for the future development of Greater Bay Area.In this paper, the grey correlation method and the VAR model has been used to analyze the interaction between the port group of Greater Bay Area and regional economic growth,With the gray correlation analysis method,it is found that the volume of freight handled in ports is highly correlated with the added value of the secondary industry and the volume of import and export trade. In addition,it is found that the volume of freight handled in Greater Bay Area has a mutually positive effect on the GDP of 11 cities in Greater Bay Area and the GDP of Guangdong Province,by the analysis of impulse response function of VAR model and analysis of variance decomposition.
