As technology advances,the market of electronic products need more and more multiple functions and various features.Meanwhile,the increased competition drives enterprise to extend their product line.To persistently update product line by research and development projects is key factor for an enterprise to survive in the market.Scientific and effective risk management can greatly improve the efficiency and success rate of projects,while they can also directly increase the competitiveness of the enterprise.Gas detection equipment is a kind of important equipment used in dangerous working environment.It can protect workers away from poisonous and harmful gases timely and to ensure the safety of workers.Due to working in harsh environment with potential hazards,gas detection equipment usually needs high safety and accuracy.The process of development and design have representativeness.As a lead in gas detection industrial,S company is trying to control the risk and ensure the success in research and development project.This paper presents some discusses and analysis about several existing risk management tools and methods,and demonstrates a successful practice on VS gas detection equipment research and development project.Base on project circumstances,Risk Breakdown Structure,Failure Mode and Effects Analysis,Probability and Impact Matrix are identified as appreciated tools or methods in this project.It achieves the function of combining theory with practice,improves the risk management level of the project,and ensures the project can be completed successfully.It also provides a strong basis for risk management of S company in new product research and development project in the future,and provides a reference case for risk management in future electronic products projects.
