Vehicle handling stability and ride comfort are two important performance indexes of automobile.The subject of this paper comes from the school-enterprise cooperation project.This paper aims to improve the handling stability and ride comfort of one vehicle by optimizing suspension parameters.The conclusion and method provides technical support for improving vehicle quality and expanding the product's market share.Subsystems of the car such as the suspension system,the steering system,the powertrain system,the car's body,the tire model are built in ADAMS.Then multi-body dynamics model and simulation experiment platform are built by Car module and Ride module in ADAMS.Vehicle handling stability and ride comfort experiments are simulated.By comparing the simulation results with the test data,model is proved to be right.Then simulation is done according to the national standard and the handling stability and ride comfort performance of the vehicle are evaluated.The result shows that the vehicle's handling stability and ride comfort performance is acceptable,but there is still some room for improvement.The optimization can be separated into two parts.The first part is the multi-objective optimization of front suspension structure parameters based on suspension kinematic characteristics.ADAMS/Insight is used to optimize the coordinates of suspension's hard points and the optimization result shows that the front suspension's alignment parameters have been greatly improved.The second part tries to optimize the front and rear suspension's mechanical parameters,which is based on the first part's optimization results.The synthesis of ADAMS,ISIGHT and MATLAB is used to build a multi-objective optimization platform to improve the handling stability and ride comfort comprehensively.The spring stiffness and damper damping characteristics of the front and rear suspension are optimized,and the simulation result shows that the performance of the vehicle has been improved.This method can provide technical support to optimize the vehicle's handling stablity and ride comfort performance.
