Pentamaran has attracted more and more attention of scholars with the outstanding performance in fast,airworthiness,seakeeping and energy saving.However,in the no-load or small sway,because of the first two tablets above the water line,the performance of pentamaran is no different with the trimaran.Based on the above,the paper proposed hydrofoil-pentamaran,and took the optimization research on seakeeping.With the help of HydroSTAR software,the paper calculates the wave-resistance indexes of hydrofoil-pentamaran and conventional pentamaran,such as the roll response factor,the pitch response factor,the heave response factor,and comparatively analyzes the hydrofoil-pentamaran seakeeping advantage.For hydrofoil optimization research,the paper mainly deals with the angle of the side hydrofoil,and calculates the roll response amplitude,the pitch response amplitude,the heave response amplitude in the range of-2 ° to 14 °,with the help of HydroSTAR software,to get the optimal attack angle.From the comparison of the results of the hydrofoil-pentamaran and the conventional pentamaran,it can be concluded that for the rolling motion,pitching motion and heave motion,the seakeeping property of the hydrofoil-pentamaran is superior to that of the conventional pentamaran,and the maximum amplitude of hydrofoil-pentamaran is also much lower than the conventional pentamaran.Through the optimization analysis of the attack angle,it can be concluded that the rolling stability,pitching stability and heave stability of the hydrofoil-pentamaran under different waves are consistent.For rolling motion,pitching motion,heace motion the optimal attack angles are consistent,and the optimum attack angle is 10° for the Wigley ship hydrofoil-pentamaran with NACA 4415 airfoil.In addition,the different loading states of the hull may lead to the change of the static state of the ship.In consequence,for the seakeeping performance,the range of attack angle from 8° to 12° is optional.
