A Contrastive Study Of The Relation Between Garden Governance And Garden Painting On Spatial Construction

There are so much common between construction of gardens and garden paintings.In the process of spatial organization,the designers follow nature,pay attention to the mountains and rivers,and follow the principle of harmony between man and nature.It indicates that the two are closely related.In the past,the study of garden art and garden painting was limited to the level of thought and skill,ignoring the intertextual association between paintings and research works based on gardens.In fact,"Yuanye" is the first monograph of China's systematic discussion of gardening theory,summarizing the principles of building and landscaping techniques of classical gardens in China.Garden painting,as an art work of literary social interaction and the representation of the garden,carries rich cultural and spiritual connotations.Among them,"Imperial Linquan" is one of the books that collect a lot of garden paintings,written by Mr.Gao,etc.Since the garden paintings in "The Immortal Linquan" and "Yuanye" belong to same period(the middle of the 17 th century),it inspires a strong interest of me on analyzing the relationship between those two.In addition,a comparable argument is tried by cross-media—crossing the barriers of text or images.The article mainly conducts a comparative analysis of "Yuanye" and garden paintings from three levels,including location selection,organization layout,and architectural unit.In the location selection,the comparative analysis is mainly carried out from the aspects of mountain-forest,urban and village area.In the internal space organization layout,the main analysis is from the layout of the functional partitions and the presets of the tour routes.In terms of building elements,the comparative analysis is mainly carried out from building construction and building decoration.By comparison,the following points are similar:1.In the location selection of the site,they both follow the natural principle,based on the needs of the garden owner,not only paying attention to the method of elaboration from the natural level,but also focusing on the analysis of the landscaping from the human level.2.In the spatial organization layout,they both focus on local conditions,emphasizing the demand of the garden owner,paying attention to the guidance of visual psychology,making full use of the borrowed scene,and combining the original topography and water system to design the garden to make it suitable.3.On the construction unit,they both focus on the design of each building unit based on the overall environment and atmosphere of the garden,including color,form,etc.,focusing on local conditions.After comparison,the differences are as follows:1.In the location selection,the garden paintings will have subjective depictions in the expression process,as “Yuanye·House”saying: The clouds are outside,the waters in the water,the mountains are not gone,the cranes are sent.The garden painting will leave blank in the distance,and the scenes such as clouds,water,mountains and cranes will be blurred.Therefore,these subjective expressions will affect the interpretation of the authenticity of the landscape map information.2.In the spatial organization layout,the layout in "Yuanye" is based on the practical consideration of a natural status.The layout in garden painting focuses on the compositional considerations in subjective creation,and pays attention to the aesthetics in composition.The design of the hall,the landscape and the route of the tour are more humane from the practical perspective.In addition,the gardening techniques and concepts presented in "Yuanye" are modular as divided into chapters.But essentially,the spatial images presented in each chapter are too fragmented,lacking visual image integrity like pictures.3.On the construction unit,“ Yuanye ” pays attention to the consideration of the building monomer itself,and the matching of each building unit.Garden painting pays attention to the suitability of building elements from the perspective of garden environment,favoring the harmonious unity of building elements and the whole garden.
