With the development of the military of our country,the demand for nuclear-powered submarines is urgent.The life-cycle cost of nuclear-powered submarines become the focus of our attention.Savings costs can be fundamentally changed from the design approach,it uses the General Specification of ship to design at present.But taking into account of the complex load,the reactor will apply high strength steel,which shows an excellent performance and low initial defects.So in this paper,ASME code is used to verify the design of submarine structure.Design by Analusis method in ASME boiler and pressure vessel Code has been widely used in the pressure vessel industry.The main part of elastic Design by Analusis method is to classify the stress,the importance of different types of stress is not the same.Such as the primary stress,once it exceeds the yield strength,it means the entire structure fails.But in contrast,it has a self-limiting effect on the secondary stress,so the structure can continue to bear even if local yielding and minor distortion.It is necessary to check different types of stress with different standards.Compared with the General Design methods,the amount of calculation of elastic Design by Analysis is obviously increased,but the result turns to be more scientifically and rationally.Therefore,the designer needs to select a suitable method from the perspective of material selection,manufacture,design calculation cost,transportation and testing,and other aspects.The difficulty of the application of elastic Design by Analysis method lies in the stress classification.Firstly,we should deeply learn the knowledge about stress classification in the specification.Then the criterion is applied to the design of a typical pressure vessel to further understand the content and the process of the method.Finally,a submarine plane bulkhead structure was checked,and we take the general specifications for naval ships as a benchmark to explore the applicability of the ASME code.In summary,elastic Design by analysis has a huge amount of calculation and a vague stress classification of complex structures.Therefore,the future development of Design by analysis method will be elastic-plastic analysis and limit load analysis.
