With the rapid development of urban nighttime lighting,low quality artificial lighting causes light pollution,which poses a serious threat to astronomical observation,ecological health,energy conservation and environmental protection.Improving the nighttime light environment observation and evaluation system is the fundamental method to prevent and control light pollution.In the current study,ground-based measurements mainly focus on single-level observations and limited research areas.The resolution of remote sensing data is low,and the study of street-scale light environment is limited.Remote sensing and actual measurement are usually studied independently.Therefore,this paper explores the simultaneous observation of nighttime light environment by remote sensing and actual measurement,and analyzes the distribution characteristics of light environment in different types of areas.The main research work and achievements of this paper include the following items.Firstly,the paper summarizes the latest developments of geographic information systems,ArcGis software and remote sensing technology in urban nighttime light environment applications.Secondly,international typical national nighttime light environment assessment based on remote sensing data: Using the Defence Meteorological Satel-lite Program(DMSP/OLS)and the Suomi National Polar-Orbiting Partnership Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer(NPP-VIIRS)luminescence data,studied the nighttime light environment brightness levels and trends in typical countries of the world during the period of 1992-2018,and determined the international level of China's nighttime light environment.Thirdly,nighttime light environment assessment of typical cities in China based on remote sensing data: Using the latest Luojia1-01 night light images,the night light environment level and distribution pattern of typical cities in China were studied,and the domestic level of night light environment in Dalian was determined.Fourthly,observation and evaluation of urban central light environment based on ground measurement: Through the ground measurement,the spectral distribution,the distribution of magnitude brightness,the distribution of illuminance,the distribution of color temperature and the characteristics of the overall light environment of the city squares' three spatial levels were studied.And based on ArcGIS to create a multi-level,multi-parameter,different time period of the night light environment map.Fifthly,correlation analysis between nighttime light remote sensing data and ground measured data: Visual comparison and correlation analysis of ground measured data and Luojia nighttime light data of four squares in Dalian.The study found a significant correlation between remote sensing data(radiance)and measured data(brightness).Sixthly,research on urban nighttime light environment based on remote sensing observation: The nighttime light data was used to study the distribution and attenuation trend of nighttime light environment in urban center area(city squares)and urban fringe areas(mountain forests and nearshore water areas)in Dalian.The innovation of this research topic is: using remote sensing night light data and ground measured data,the temporal and spatial changes of night light environment are studied by digital observation methods from multiple spatial dimensions;the nighttime ecological light environment of coastal cities is explored by using night light data.
