Positron Emission Tomography?PET?is a imaging technique that uses the principle of positron annihilation to reveal biological metabolic activities,such as microbial metabolism,receptor activity and neurotransmitter transfer in living organisms.PET shows plenty of advantages of high sensitivity,strong specificity,system imaging,and high safety performance in medical applications.PET has been widely used in various medical diagnosis,disease judgment analysis,drug treatment effect evaluation,organ metabolism function research and new drug research in various medical,biological,pharmaceutical and other research fields.The imaging quality of a PET was affected by a series of factors such as gamma-ray detector response,detector position placement,the number of detectors,and image reconstruction algorithms.The researches of high-quality PET detectors have been crucial parts of the PET system development,including Front-End Electronics,high-resolution high-sensitivity gamma-ray detection,etc.In this paper,we designed the front-end electronics for both lutetium yttrium oxyorthosilicate?LYSO?scintillator detector and cadmium zinc cadmium?CZT?semiconductor detector in small-animal PET applications.A set of LabVIEW program of four-channel signal processing and data acquisition was written by a PXI8501synchronous data acquisition card.The LYSO PET detector consists of three parts,a12×12 LYSO crystal array?pixels of 1.6×1.6×10mm3?,a Hamamatsu position sensitive photomultiplier tube and a self-designed preamplifier assembly.For the12×12 pixel array LYSO detector,the average energy resolution of 22Na source was20.6%and the average FWHM of the position profile was 0.54 mm.The pixelated CZT detector were also designed and tested,PC250 charge sensitive preamplifier circuits,MA-01C preamplifier and filter amplifier circuits.The single pixel energy spectrum of CZT detector was obtained by a 22Na source.In summary,a 12×12 array LYSO scintillator detector and an 8×8 array CZT pixelated semiconductor detector were successfully designed and tested.These two detectors will be potentially used in the lab-designed MINI-PET system for animal researches.
