As the most common instrument to provide different waveforms,frequencies and output levels,signal generator is an indispensable tool in various testing and experimental processes.Its performance indicators will have a direct impact on the test results in the engineering applications it uses.How to judge the quality of its performance indicators is a problem facing engineers.Measurement,as an important means to ensure the unification of the national measurement unit system and the accuracy and reliability of measurement values,has also become an important means to verify whether the performance indicators of signal generators are good or not.The traditional method of signal generator measurement and calibration usually uses manual operation,which is time-consuming and laborious.This paper takes the automatic measurement and calibration of signal generator as the research object,tries to realize the automatic control of signal generator and standard equipment by computer using GPIB,USB bus,and uses LabVIEW software programming to realize automatic measurement and calibration,data processing and certificate generation of signal generator,and completes a set of automatic measurement and calibration system for signal generator.The main contents of this paper are as follows: the investigation and analysis of the status quo of the measurement and calibration of signal generator,the theory and method of measurement of signal generator parameters,the analysis and research of the implementation methods of relevant measurement and verification regulations,the overall scheme design,hardware design and system construction,software design and implementation,joint debugging of software and hardware systems,test and verification of system function indicators,and the results of system implementation,system error analysis and uncertainty assessment.Firstly,according to the calibration rules of signal generator and the actual use of our unit,this paper determines the calibration parameters needed to be completed and the performance indicators to be achieved in the calibration system,completes the hardware design according to the system requirements analysis,and then designs and manufactures the signal conditioning box with programmable function according to the needs of the system operation process.It avoids manual replacement of connection lines and ensures the stability of signals and the automation of automatic calibration.According to the relevant principles and the analysis of measurement and calibration process,the hardware platform for automatic measurement and calibration of signal generator is established.Then,the software requirement analysis is carried out.Based on LabVIEW,which is a graphical development environment,the measurement and calibration process of signal generator is studied and designed.The required module and interface design are carried out.The software function is realized by iteration optimization.Finally,through the comparison of automatic test data and manual test data and the evaluation of uncertainty,the results show that the system designed in this paper has achieved the original design objectives.At present,the system has been successfully put into use in the measurement and calibration of signal generator in our company.
