The "information fault" problem is the main reason for the long design period of complex structures. Therefore, information sharing and interaction between stages of the building life cycle have received much attention. This study introduces BIM as a bridge for information sharing and interaction between stages in the design period. The building structure information model is used as the information carrier for inter-stage model transformation, which provides information sharing and interactive use between stages of the building life cycle. This paper introduces BIM technology to solve the problem of “information fault” between building design and structural design and low information transmission efficiency, and provides a model for realizing the effective transmission and multi-use of information between stages.Firstly, the BIM technology is reviewed. The origin and development of BIM and the definition of BIM are introduced. Then the characteristics of BIM and IFC standard,XML specification and national BIM standard are introduced. Then the advantages of BIM common software and BIM are summarized. Then the Revit API technology is studied, and a building structure information model for information sharing and interaction between architecture design and structural analysis is proposed.Based on this model,a model transformation scheme is proposed.According to the scheme,a Revit to ANSYS method is proposed. The model transformation algorithm and the introduction of the algorithm flow with a simple example.Through the model conversion algorithm, the information conversion from Revit model to ANSYS model is realized, and the model imported into ANYS can perform finite element calculation.
