Analysis On Spatial Layout And Architectural Form Of Vernacular Settlements In Central Shanxi

Vernacular settlements and architecture contain extremely rich historical information which shows the characteristics of localization under different regional conditions because of the difference between the natural environment and cultural environment.As the fourth group of traditional Chinese villages,linshui village in gaoyang town,xiaoyi city,Shanxi Province,has a long history and the traces of human life in the Neolithic period.During the Ming and Qing dynasties Linshui village took the social system as the organization and corrected and executed its administration.It reasonably arranged the place of people and gods and attached great importance to the cultivation of the villagers,thus reaching the peak period.This paper takes Linshui village as the research object and takes settlement space layout and architectural form as the entry point.Through literature research,field investigation and comparative analysis,integrated architecture,history and geography,urban and rural planning more interdisciplinary research methods analyze the human settlement wisdom.It isintended to provide an instance for studying of settlement and architecture of Central Shanxi and a certain protection and development basis for the same type or other vernacular settlement like Linshui village.The paper is mainly composed of three parts.The first part is the background study which analyzes the background of Linshui village and focuses on the three aspects of location conditions,natural environment and human environment.The second part is the core of the thesis which includes the third and fourth chapters and focuses on the analysis of the spatial layout and architectural form of settlements.The third chapter studies the spatial layout of settlements.By analyzing the influence of the ancient community system and religious belief on the spatial structure of the settlement,the spatial intention of "four communities and five Taoist temples" in the village was extracted,and on the basis of settlement space elements,study the traditional streets and lanes of the road system,"Ming fort conduits" defense measures and all kinds of artificial historical environmental elements.The fourth chapter focuses on the research of the courtyard and architectural form of Linshui village.It discusses the five types of public buildings,the spatial structure of Local-style dwelling houses courtyard and the morphological characteristics of Local-style dwelling houses building,and analyzes some important architectural examples.The third part,based on the basis of the first and second part,explore the potential catalyst elements in villages,construct the catalyst system ofsettlements,formulate corresponding protection plans,and put forward development Suggestions by summing up the value of the village of characteristics and facing the reality of the problem as a starting point,combining the theory of urban catalyst,sustainable development theory and the strategy of rejuvenating rural.
