South of Shanxi, is one of the most important birthplace of Chinese civilization. Ding village, used as protection unit of national vibration cultural relic, is an excellent example of the cultural in the south of Shanxi. While the residential and courtyard of Li grand-courtyard influenced by traditional culture in the south of Shanxi as well, not only obey the regionalism of architecture, but also developing and innovation itself. The article by studies on the spatial organization, decoration art, technology process of Li grand-courtyard in south of Shanxi, using spot investigation and theoretical analysis methods, from global to partial, through investigate, discovery and analysis problems. Providing a way to solve problems. Especial the research of professional theory and design method combined with sociology and sociology etc to make a thorough study to the whole architectural complex.The first section of the article mainly analysis how the natural and humanistic background affect the whole style and form of courtyard buildings. The second section mainly introduced the whole space layout of architectural group. From global to partial, described each layout of courtyard and types of characteristic buildings individually. Make a classify discussed by using"ash space"in courtyard. The third part of the series papers enumerated typical endemic decoration visual arts. The fourth part expounds technique of technology process on courtyards. Including treat with drainage organization, protection, day-lighting and structure of building group. Moreover, structure treatment will makes further innovation and development based on tradition technically.
