Investigation Report Of Ancient Stage In Puzhou Area

Puzhou area is located in the southwest of Shanxi Province.The opera culture has been very prosperous since ancient times.The three counties of Yongji,Linyi and Wanrong have a long history and many existing cultural relics and monuments.In particular,Puzhou area is close to the hometown of Guandi of Haizhou,and there are many folk sacrifices to emperors.Moreover,the Houtu Temple is also located in this area,so there are a lot of sacrifice activities about the Houtu.In the temple of the three counties of the Puzhou area,Guandi worships sacrifice and Houtu worship it accounted for a large proportion.As an adjunct to many temple buildings,the ancient stage is also found in almost most rural temples in Puzhou area.Through the method of field investigation,the author takes the Puzhou area delineated by Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty(1728)as the research area,and takes the theater shape,architectural decoration and sacrifice to the gods of 50 ancient theatrical platforms in Yongji,Linyi and Wanrong counties.Stage inscriptions,existing inscriptions,opera murals and so on were investigated,and real and reliable theater data and related materials were obtained.Through these data,such as the architectural data,the traditional Chinese opera murals,the stage title,the drama inscription and the local and county records,we can analyze the whole characteristics of the ancient stage in the Puzhou area,and sum up the building characteristics of the local ancient stage and the distribution of the stage,the deities and other basic conditions.At the same time,through these survey data,we can also discuss the acting activities in Puzhou area,and understand the previous acting situation in Puzhou area,which is for us to study the development history of Puzhou Bangzi opera and the folk custom and economy of Puzhou Bangzi opera.The relationship between politics and religion has certain positive significance.In the field investigation,the author found that with the development of society,the sacrifice activities of rural gods in Puzhou area decreased,the corresponding environment of rural opera performance also changed,and the organization and financing of acting also lacked enthusiasm.Many temples and theatres have been damaged by nature or man-made because they are useless,and some are even in danger.
