Convection weather is a common weather in summer.Its occurrence and development are often accompanied by strong air currents,wind shear,icing,lightning strikes,heavy precipitation,downbursts and other weather phenomena.It has a significant impact on civil aviation activities.Convection weather has also a great impact on the traffic control work in civil aviation.The conditions such as regional airflow and visibility will change drastically,which will cause great interference to normal aviation activities.The controller needs to direct the aircraft to yaw and detour,to a certain extent increased the difficulty of air traffic controllers.Therefore,the ATC has high requirements on the location,development trend,and early warning time of convective weather zones.Based on the requirements of air traffic control,this paper studies the method of identifying and tracking convective weather areas using Japanese Himawari-8 weather satellite data.The article uses improved threshold method and Satellite Convection Analysis and Tracking(SATCAST)to identify convection.And use the improved area overlap algorithm to track convection.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1.According to the Himawari-8 data technology reference document,the satellite geography is drawn and the satellite image is pre-filtered by bilateral filtering.2.Based on the work of air traffic control,the requirements of convection identification in control are analyzed,and the convection characteristics of Hunan airspace are analyzed using multivariate data.3.Divide the convective clouds into category I,II,and III warning areas by using a threshold algorithm.Based on this,use the method of visual comparison of satellite multichannel fusion images combined with the method of satellite multi-channel difference.Use mask technology to classify the areas of warning I and II.The processing was carried out,and the type III warning area was processed by using mask technology using the improved SATCAST method for Himawari-8.The principle analysis and display of important technologies are also carried out.4.On the basis of using Canny operator to extract the boundary of each warning area,and on the basis of controlling the moving distance of the cloud center of mass in the warning area,the area cluster algorithm was used to track the clouds in the warning area.5.Based on the characteristics of convection in Hunan airspace,two typical convection phenomena in Hunan airspace in 2019 were selected and verified using the method used in this paper.The results show that the method can accurately identify the convection and Convection has a better prediction effect and can basically meet the needs of air traffic control.
