The fatality rate and injury rate of side impact accidents have been at a high level,and the direct and indirect property losses caused by side impact accidents have been increasing year by year.Therefore,the safety study of side impact accidents has become a hot topic among scholars and experts in various countries.For side impact,FMVSS 214 and ECE R95 were enacted in the United States and Europe,and then countries started to formulate side impact regulations in line with their national conditions according to the two regulations.Based on the European laws and regulations,China formulated its side collision laws and regulations with reference to the Japanese laws and regulations,which came into effect in 2006.However,China’s side collision laws and regulations are mostly aimed at passenger cars,and are still in the exploration stage for commercial vehicles.Some of the minivans studied in this paper are used for export to the gulf region.The regulations on side impact in the gulf region are relatively perfect,and the evaluation standards are relatively strict compared with those in China.Therefore,this paper mainly refers to the regulations GS 38B/2005 in the gulf region when conducting simulation tests.In this paper,a mini-truck as the research object,on the basis of the gulf and regulations,the established 3 d model using Hyper Mesh software for finite element modeling,system modeling using LS-Prepost software side constraints,then the generated K file using LS-DYNA software for explicit solution,for solving the file using the Hyper Graph is analyzed.Through the simulation analysis,the damage indexes of the head and chest of the dummy in the simulation results exceeded the maximum value required by the regulations,and the lateral structure should be improved and optimized.In this paper,based on the simulation results,eight design variables were selected by multi-objective optimization method to optimize the design of the lateral structure.Then,according to the established optimization mathematical model of the lateral structure,the optimal design variables of the lateral structure were found by the characteristics of genetic algorithm optimization.Finite element modeling and simulation analysis are carried out for the minivan according to the optimal design variables.The simulation results before and after optimization were compared: the intrusion amount at the door,B-pillar and threshold was reduced to different degrees,and the damage value at the head and chest of the dummy also met the requirements ofthe regulations.
