With the rapid economic growth,the rapid increase of traffic flow,traffic congestion is becoming increasingly serious,and urban traffic accidents are increasing.The rapid development of transportation is one of the important reasons for the development of economy and the improvement of human life,but it also has a serious negative impact on the environment.Urban traffic congestion has become a major problem for every country in the world.Traffic congestion leads to the decrease of urban road utilization,slow traffic operation,increase of vehicle fuel and exhaust emissions,air pollution,and adverse effects on social economy,air environment and people's health.For the country,the development of transportation is not only an opportunity but also a challenge,which is an important problem that the country and people urgently need to solve.This paper analyzes the traffic signal control mode and existing problems at the intersection of Haitian Avenue and Linchang road in Zhoushan City,points out the shortcomings and defects of the traditional traffic signal control mode,sorts out the relevant theoretical knowledge of the traffic signal control system,and combs the development experience of the advanced traffic signal control system at home and abroad.The basic principle of genetic algorithm is analyzed in detail.Aiming at the limitation of genetic algorithm in optimizing traffic signal,the corresponding improvement of genetic algorithm is made to make it more suitable for the application in optimizing traffic signal.This paper analyzes the key technical problems of the traffic signal control system at the intersection of Haitian Avenue and Linchang road in Zhoushan City.Based on the traffic flow data measured at the intersection of Haitian Avenue and Linchang road in Zhoushan City,a nonlinear function model with the minimum average delay time of vehicles and the minimum queuing length of vehicles at the intersection in the signal period is established.The improved genetic algorithm is used to optimize the model After getting the adaptive signal timing,the simulation software VISSIM is used to simulate the actual traffic situation of Haitian Avenue and Linchang Road,and verify that the optimized signal timing is reasonable at the intersection of Haitian Avenue and Linchang road.The simulationresults show that the optimization method in this paper can reduce the average delay time and the total length of vehicle queuing Significant effect.
