Exhaust gas turbocharger technology can improve engine power and fuel economy. The engine with turbocharged technology is 40%-60%higher than the natural aspirated engine, the fuel consumption is reduced by about 10%.How to match the engine to a suitable exhaust gas turbocharger and solve the mechanical load and heat load problems caused by the matching. It has always been an important issue in the application of exhaust gas turbocharging technology. This paper matches a new exhaust gas turbocharger to a W(?)rtsil(?)4L20 diesel engine. To increase its compression ratio, allowing more fresh air to enter the cylinder,This will make the engine to output more power. And solving the mechanical load and heat load problems caused by matching through optimizing the structural parameters of the diesel engine.(1)According to the structural parameters of the W(?)rtsil(?)4L20 diesel engine, the whole machine model is established by GT-POWER to simulate the load characteristics of the turbocharged diesel engine during actual operation, and then compare the simulation data with the experimental data.(2)Calculate the air flow and pressure ratio required by the diesel engine based on the target power and fuel consumption rate selected two exhaust gas turbochargers.Through a comparative analysis of the GTX553388 and the GTX553394 matched with the diesel engine on the performance of the diesel engine. Finally, the GTX553388 supercharger produced by Honeywell was selected.(3)After re-matching the exhaust gas turbocharger, the diesel engine power is increased to a predetermined value, and the fuel consumption rate is also reduced to a predetermined value, but at the same time, the mechanical load and thermal load of the diesel engine are increased and beyond the set boundary value,And then through the analysis of mechanical load and heat load problems to find their influencing factor and optimize them.In addition, the thermal balance simulation calculation of the load characteristics of the diesel engine is carried out.Analysis of the distribution of heat in each part and the trend of heat change in various parts as the load changes. As the load increases, the amount of fuel injection increases,so the heat in each part also increases, however, the proportion of heat in each part varies with the increase of load.(4)Because the mechanical load and heat load increase after re-matching the exhaust gas turbocharger,it is necessary to optimize some structural parameters of the diesel engine, such as:compression ratio, injection timing, valve timing etc.,thereby reducing the diesel engine.Reduce the maximum combustion pressure of the diesel engine and the front exhaust gas temperature of the turbine by optimizing them. The influence of these parameters on the performance of the diesel engine is analyzed. Finally, the suitable structural parameters of the diesel engine are selected to provide reference for the design and research of the diesel engine in the future.
