With the continuous development of economy in our country,the spatial pattern of the region is undergoing rapid changes.The economic prosperous cities have influenced the development of the surrounding cities and towns continually,and the concept of the metropolitan circle has emerged.The transport system is very important to the development of the metropolitan circles,in which the public transport system has made outstanding contributions to the passenger transport.Therefore,this article takes the public transport modes between cities in the metropolitan circles as the research object,and studying on the adaptability of public transport modes in the metropolitan circles.First of all,this article compares and analyzes the metropolitan circles and other regional spatial forms,and becomes more aware of the concept and development characteristics about the metropolitan circles.At the same time,based on the trip distance the article classifies the metropolitan circles and divides the existing eighteen metropolitan circles into three grades.In addition,the railway transportation and road transportation are set as the major forms of public transportation between cities in the metropolitan circles,and the public transportation is further subdivided into five modes based on operational characteristics,including:general rail,fast rail,high-speed rail,intercity expressway and intercity highway.According to the passenger transport demand between cities in the metropolitan circles,makes up the public transport modes with the five forms of public transportation,and gives examples to analyze the different public transport modes in the metropolitan circles.Secondly,based on urban development characteristics of the metropolitan circles,this article establishes a public transport passenger flow forecasting model to predict the public transport passenger flow between cities in the metropolitan circles about the future years,and based on the obtained public transport passenger flow and related results,this article utilizes the multiple objective selection model to get the public transport modes,which need to meet the requirements of passengers,transport system and social environment in the future.According to the differences between the public transport modes in the future and the present modes in the metropolitan circles,the adaptability of the present public transport modes is analyzed.Finally,this article takes the public transport mode between Nanjing and Ma'anshan city in Nanjing metropolitan area as the research object,and validates the public transport passenger flow forecasting model and multiple objective selection models.The analysis results of the example show that:the public transport mode between Nanjing and Ma'anshan city in the future can be figured out by the models.The results are compared with the current public transport modes,and the adaptability of the current public transport mode between Nanjing and Ma'anshan city is obtainedAccording to the method proposed in this article,analyzing the adaptability of the public transport modes in the metropolitan circles,and the analysis results can provide theoretical support for the improvement of the public transport modes in the metropolitan circles,so that the public transport modes can be timely and appropriately adjusted by the planners,and the public transport modes which meet the development needs of the metropolitan circles can be got.
