With the urbanization speeding up,caused the region to evolve to the metropolitan area. The formation and development of the metropolitan area need the help of the mass rapid rail transit. There is needing a scientific and rational passenger traffic forecast of the mass rapid rail transit to plan the metropolitan area's rail transit. Therefore, there have the important practicatol of city passenger traffic forecast in our country, but metropolitan area passenger traffic forecast research then just started, the existing method of forecasting is still unlikely to adapt to the characteristics of the metropolitan traffic. Therefore, how to combine the characteristics of the metropolitan transportation, establish a rational metropolitan rail transit and passenger flow forecast is full of theoretical research meaningless. This article aims to study the analysis of the metropolitan rail transit background and the current passenger flow forecasting metropolitan area on the basis of optimizing the search for a more rational passenger rail Metropolitan forecasting methods. On the basis of analyzing and summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of the existing track passenger flow forecasting methods in the metropolitan area, adds the industry related degree to the distribution model.Give the gray correlation calculating method of the industry related degree between two traffic zone, improved the balance of the system model, put out the forecasting method of passenger flow in metropolitan area based on industry related degree, take Chongqing one-hour economic circle for example, give a forecast and analysis of the metro passenger flow in 2020,in order to promotes the scientificity and the rationality of urban traffic plan and passenger flow forecasting in urban agglomeration.
