Traffic lights play an indispensable role in maintaining traffic order.However,the traffic lights often fail due to the harsh working environment and the human damage.If the traffic lights fail,it can easily lead to traffic chaos and even traffic accidents.In addition,the current troubleshooting of traffic lights in the city is manual inspection,which has the disadvantages of failing to detect faults in time and detecting faults with low efficiency.Aiming at these shortcomings,a set of Internet of things of traffic lights based on embedded system is designed,which can improve the reliability of traffic lights in power transmission,reduce the failure rate of traffic lights,and upload the status information and fault information of the traffic lights to the server in real time.This information can be displayed on the web monitoring platform.The system mainly includes hardware and software parts.The hardware part improves the reliability of traffic lights in power transmission,it can detect the fault of the traffic lights then upload it to the server.This part uses power line carrier technology to transmit control signals on the power supply cable,therefore,the traffic lights can still work normally even if some of the lines are open circuit or short circuits,which can reduce the failure rate of traffic lights.The traffic lights fault detection,which detect the on and off state of the traffic lights through the optical fiber receiver,and compare it with the traffic lights control sequence from the signal machine,so as to judge the traffic lights fault information.The gateway encapsulates the status and fault information of the traffic lights into self-defined MQTT control messages,and sends these control messages to the local server at a fixed frequency.The software part mainly builds a local server and develops a web monitoring platform.Agents,clients,databases,and web monitoring platforms are deployed on the local server.Communication between server and gateway adopts MQTT transmission protocol.The web monitoring platform adopts the B/S architecture(Browser / server mode),which realizes real-time display of traffic lights running state,traffic lights historical fault query,the visualization map,operation logs query and other functions.Experiments show that the system can significantly reduce the failure rate of traffic lights,improve the traffic lights monitoring capability and the efficiency of fault diagnosis.
