Mixed passenger and freight railway is the railway system that operates passenger train and freight trains together,and it is the most common form of railway in China,just before the high-speed railway to be constrused and used in China.From 1997 to 2007,China railway has carried out six round of railway large-scale speed-up.Especially the sixth round of railway large-scale speed-up which was implemented on April 18,2007,had achieved the transport organization mode that operates CRH,high-speed passenger train and freight train together.However,with the continuous improvement of the railway network,the original planning,design and operation experiences of CRH and freight trains which operated together show some limitations.Therefore,it is very important to study how to achieve the speed matching in railway line for mixed passenger and freight traffic in order to make rational use of railway transportation resources.On the basis of a comprehensive analysis of the stage of development and characteristics of China mixed passenger and freight railway,combined with the new challenges and opportunities which caused by the new structural changes of the railway network and the new requirements of the railway’s development that had precipitated by the continuous development of the China mixed passenger and freight railway.The new problems faced by the speed matching of mixed passenger and freight railway in China are combed,studied and analyzed in this thesis.The transportation capacity of mixed passenger and freight railway system is able to meet the demand or not is a direct manifestation of whether the train speed between passenger train and freight train is matched or not.This thesis makes a systematic analysis of the calculation method of railway passing capacity by consulting a large number of documents and combing with the operation experience,which commonly used by mixed passenger and freight railway system,including coefficient removal method,direct calculation method and graphic measures method.By means of studying the key factors such as railway mobile equipment,line maximum gradient,tractive tonnage and station spacing,which have a direct impact on operational speed of locomotive and CRH,and considering the transportation demand which has a tremendous impact on the freight train traction quality,traffic volume and operating speeds,the thesis brings the capability calculation method for the variey speed grade of locomotive and CRH that operated in a same railway system.In view of the specific characteristics of Xining-Chengdu railway,which is mainly operates the passenger train combined with smell amount of freight transport,line’s large gradient,alternative set of locomotive,traction quality and speed and the changing trend relationship between them are studied.Based on the multi-speed grade co-line operationpassing capacity model,Lingo is used to solve it.The optimal matching relationship between the freight train speed,traction quality and passing capacity under the premise conditions of the Xining-Chengdu railway is presented.And the optimal combination of the Xining-Chengdu railway passenger and freight train speed matching is to using HXD1 D locomotive,tow 1500 t and the average speed is 120 km/h.The conclusion of this study is of great reference significance to the engineering design of Xining-Chengdu railway,and the research method has some reference significance for the research of other similar mixed passenger and freight railways.
