Walking,a green,low-carbon and “physically active” mode of transportation, has been gradually supported and valued by urban residents and the government in recent years, and has become increasingly prominent in the urban public service facility system. However, motorization is still the main mode of urban transportation development. This has had a large impact on the urban pedestrian space. Therefore, the study of the relationship between urban built environment and walking can provide theoretical support for the strategy formulation of attracting walking and improving walking environment. This paper based on the theory of behavior in relation to environment as well as the previous review, analysis and summary, the studies on related to social ecology based on walking behavior demand hierarchy theory as the breakthrough point analyzes and determines the environmental properties and environmental factors of different walking type and the functional orientation and classification of environmental factors, establishes the index system of environmental elements affecting walking behavior, and sets up the feedback relationship between street environment factors and walking behavior and determines the physiological index of street walking experience.Paper selects twelve sample blocks as the research object, adopts the means of questionnaire survey to obtain the data of residents’ walking behavior and social and economic attributes and the means of baidu map,CAD data of land use status and field investigation to obtain the index data of urban form elements.Using SPSS software analyzes the obtained data by descriptive statistical analysis and variance analysis to verify the rationality and validity of the data and establishing multivariate logistic regression analysis model further explores the influence and degree of urban form elements on walking behavior and extracts significant influence factors. It is concluded that land use, street network and living facilities have significant influence on walking behavior, among which the key factors are the mixing degree of land use, land subdivision degree, road network density, intersection density and daily service facility density.Using the method of field street survey obtains the index data of street environment elements and the equipment of eye tracker carries out field experiment to obtain the relevant physiological index data representing the street walking experience.Using SPSS software for preliminary analysis analyzes the obtained data to verify the rationality and validity of the data.Factor analysis is carried out on the street environment elements to extract the corresponding common factors and establishing multivariate linear regression analysis model further explores the impact and degree of street environment factors on walking experience and extracts significant impact factors. It is concluded that vehicle space, pedestrian path scale, street walking environment, overall street scale and frontage building have significant influence on walking experience, among which, pavement width,The degree of pedestrian obstacle, building retreat distance and the type of building retreat use are key factors in pedestrian path scale. On the basis of drawing lessons from previous studies and the conclusions of empirical studies, this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions from two aspects of urban living space environment planning and design,so as to provide guidance for the practice of urban residential space environment construction which is suitable for walking.
