In the past decade, more and more scholars have begun to pay attention to the issue of walking. The role played by walking in reducing environmental pollution, increasing social benefits, promoting physical and mental health, reducing travel costs, and improving the vitality of residential areas has been paid more and more attention. This paper draws on the internationally popular walking index algorithm to construct a pedestrian accessibility evaluation index system suitable for Chinese cities, and uses 3458 residential areas in the main city of Zhengzhou as a research unit to provide overall pedestrian accessibility and daily services to Zhengzhou.Evaluation of the walkability of the facility; Then, using the logistic regression model, the influence of pedestrian accessibility on residents' travel preference and residents' travel mode selection is discussed based on the control of residents' social and economic attributes and travel distance.Concluded as follow:The average accessibility level of daily service facilities in Zhengzhou is poor. From the perspective of spatial differentiation, the pedestrian accessibility of Zhengzhou shows an obvious“central-periphery” spatial gradient change feature, and the pedestrian accessibility high value area is mainly distributed near the large commercial center; In the old city centered on the Erqi Square, the road network is dense, the land mix is high, the residential area is highly fragmented, and the pedestrian accessibility level is good; The Zhengzhou four-ring area developed in recent years has poor accessibility. From the perspective of spatial correlation, the pedestrian accessibility of Zhengzhou has a strong spatial agglomeration, and the old city has formed a high-value gathering area of Zhengzhoupedestrian accessibility, which has a good positive space with the surrounding residential areas. From the influencing factors of the pedestrian accessibility space in the residential area, the facility density is a factor that cannot be ignored. It is found that the pedestrian accessibility of the residential area is affected by multiple effects, and there is no independent factor. The interaction of the two factors is more significant than the single factor acting on the walkability. At the same time, the influence effects of various factors have obvious spatial heterogeneity;for different types of facilities, the influence mechanism of walking accessibility also has obvious differences.Improving the accessibility of residential areas can significantly increase the residents' preference for walking and reduce the residents' preference for electric vehicles and cars;On the other hand, the choice of the walking mode of the residents' actual travel will also have a positive reinforcement effect, and the residents with high pedestrian accessibility areas have a higher probability of choosing to walk in actual travel. At the same time, the study also found that residents' travel preferences also have an impact on the choice of residents' actual travel modes.Residents with green travel preferences such as walking, bicycles, and public transportation have a higher probability of choosing to walk in actual travel.
