With the development of China's national economy,residents' requirements on the quality of living environment are gradually raised.There are many problems in the environmental design of modern residential areas,such as insufficient activity space,unbalanced distribution and imperfect facility configuration.As a result,part of the activity space cannot meet the needs of residents for outdoor rest activities,and the space utilization rate is not high.At the present stage,the research on this kind of problem is mainly to obtain data through field investigation,then analyze the problem according to the statistical results,and put forward corresponding improvement strategies.There is a lack of research on the external space environment of residential areas from the perspective of human behavior with the method of experimental verification.The simulation model constructed by agent-based Modeling(ABM)can dynamically simulate people's outdoor leisure activities,predict the use of different residential outer space environment design,provide certain reference for the future residential space environment design,and reflect the objectivity of the research.This study took residential neighborhoods as the research object,and selected five typical residential neighborhoods for field investigation by adopting literature research,interdisciplinary research,empirical analysis,quantitative research and simulation modeling.Through field observation,structural observation and questionnaire interview,the attribute characteristics of the external space environment of the residential area and the data of the outdoor leisure activities of juniors and teenagers,adults and the elderly were obtained,and the relationship between the outdoor leisure activities of residents and the external space environment of the residential area was summarized.Correlation analysis method and cluster analysis method were adopted to screen and calculate the formulas for calculating the attraction and distance attenuation functions that affect residents' leisure activities,and the two were integrated into the potential model.Meanwhile,considering the interaction between different activity subjects,simulation parameters of the ABM model were set.Then,the conceptual model of ABM was constructed with the framework of belief,desire and intention,the simulation process was designed,and the computational model for simulation was further developed.In addition,the second phase of seaside city in the sunshine belt was selected as the simulation object,and the simulation results were compared and verified with the actual investigation results to obtain the ABM model applicable to the research content.In view of the existing problems in the external space environment design of the seaside city phase ii of the sunshine belt,an improvement scheme was proposed,and the ABM model was used to re-simulate the improved scheme and compare the changes of residents' activities before and after the improvement.According to the simulation results of the improved scheme,the improvement strategy of the external space environment of residential areas to promote residents' outdoor recreation activities was determined from three aspects: space layout,facility configuration and leisure trail.
