Based on the background of the development of autonomous driving technology,the differentiation of automobile brand competition and the growth of female consumption potential,this paper takes young female users as the main research object and combines qualitative and quantitative research methods to explore the needs of young female users for car interiors.Integrating the needs,we transform their needs into design strategies,and develop automotive interior design practices to bring more female users into the automotive market.At first this article grasps the current research status of automotive interior design and female-related automotive interior design through literature research,analyzing the elements of automotive interior from the layout partition,design scope,design process,main components,and design element classification,combined with benchmarks,which contributes to summarizing the characteristics of automotive interior design elements that take into account the needs of female users,thereby providing evidence for design practice.Then,the article researches the female users' demands for using the car.First,based on the literature research,the female users' characteristics of the automotive market are summarized,and then the pain points of female users' behavior in the car are summarized from the aspects of the driver and the passenger through field observation.The questionnaire was developed on the basis of the research on female users' characteristics and female users' car behavior to further analyze the female users' car demand from a quantitative point of view and summarize the female user's demands for using the car as a whole.Next,the research on female users' automotive interior design requirements is launched.The article introduces metaphor extraction technology.One-to-one half-structured interviews are conducted on the basis of visual images found by female users.The technology uses pictures as the stimulus,and uses the interviewing techniques such as laddering technique and Kelly Grid technique to continuously encourage female users to describe themselves through pictures to show their ideas about car interiors,helping us get enough information to find the deep needs of female users hidden in words.After the interview,the constructs of the interview was extracted and analyzed in the form of product attributes-behavioral resultsvalue.These data are used to build a consensus map of female users' automotive interior design requirements.The article sums up the automotive interior design requirements of female users from six aspects including the sense of belonging,comfortable life,safety,practicality,the pursuit of beauty and self-satisfaction.Finally,this study integrates female users' demands for using and car interior design requirements into the design strategy,which is the guidance to the design practice.In the design process,this research focuses on conceptual design,with instrument panels,central controls,door panels,seats and steering wheels as the physical carriers,and carries out the design from three aspects of shape,atmosphere and function,aiming to better meet the needs of female users and explore more possibilities of innovation in automotive interior design.
