Research On Renewal Design Of Beijing Old Community Public Space Based On Resident Demand

Community public space is an important part of urban public space.It has daily travel,rest and communication activities of residents,and is the most convenient and convenient space carrier for community use.With the rapid development of China’s urbanization process,in the process of its renewal mode changing from incremental expansion to stock optimization,the old community renewal still has the phenomenon of homogenization and superficiality,focusing on beautification of the form and ignoring the actual needs of residents.Eventually,problems such as lack of community function,unused space,chaotic traffic,and indifferent human relations are caused.The contradiction between residents’ needs and space is still difficult to resolve.Therefore,based on the needs of residents,it is necessary to systematically and in-depth analyze the connotation of the elements of community public space to create a more humane and open community public space.From the perspective of residents’ needs,this article combs the current situation of old communities in Beijing through online surveys and field visits.Drawing on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs,systematically elaborated the internal relationship between residents’ physiological needs,safety needs,social needs,respect needs,self-realization needs and community public space design elements in the community public space(Chapter 2 and 3)).Combining the discussion and analysis in Chapter 3,specific update strategies are proposed from five levels: space quality,space structure,space atmosphere,space management and space culture(Chapter 4).Finally,based on the actual cases of Beijing’s old communities,specific problems are analyzed,and the measures for updating the design are discussed from the five aspects of function,transportation,borders,management and culture(Chapter 5).It is hoped that it will complement and enrich the research on urban renewal and reconstruction in China at the community level,and at the same time,it can guide the design practice of old communities in the process of urban renewal more effectively,so as to achieve the sustainable development of the community.
