Facing tremendous pressure of environmental pollution and energy demand, the battery storage has been socially recognized as an important clean technology in the energy system. With various governmental policy, the energy storage industry has gained significant growth. However, the high investment costs of the battery storage may reduce the investment attraction and hinder its further development. With the booming of sharing economy, the innovative business models may contribute a more feasible option.Based on a game theoretical model, the aim of this study is to examine the promotion effect of sharing business model on economic performance of the energy storage batteries. To be more specific, the user's interactive relationship in the community is considered.Through the simulations carried out with the GAMS software,a case study in California,United States are presented, and two scenarios are proposed: S1 with individual battery storages without sharing business models and S2 with PV energy storage battery on the sharing business model. Our scenarios consider time-of-use rates(To U),load variation during different seasons, with their distinct days of the year,to calculate net present value(NPV)associated with the energy savings. The results of this study indicate that:(1)the economic benefits of sharing business models with individual energy storages battery are slightly better than they do not participate in the sharing business models, contributing to a reduction in electricity expenses of the whole community;(2)the sharing business models can enhance battery utilization ratio;(3)the sharing business models can improve the NPV by $ 821.10.Consequently,given the current rising rates of residential battery deployment, our study highlights the need for energy policy to develop market mechanisms that facilitate the deployment of sharing business model, and this work is timely due to the possibility of a boom in the adoption of domestic batteries in regions of high solar energy such as California.
