Research On The Establishment And Development History Of Taiwan Park System In Modern Times(1895-1945)

One of the most important stage of historical change in the process of urban construction in Taiwan is 1895-1945.During this period,modern Taiwanese parks were born and quickly formed scales,which underwent the development processes of traditional garden transformation,park creation,urban park system establishment and national park exploration.This paper analyzed the nine parks in Taiwan horizontally,explored the historical changes,planning and construction,evolution characteristics and value significance of Taiwan parks in modern times.It conducts a systematic historical study of modern parks in Taiwan.First,this article takes the development of Taiwan’s traditional gardens and the introduction of the park concept as an entry point to study the background of the formation of modern parks in Taiwan.Taiwan’s gardens first appeared in the Dutch period,developed during the Ming and Zheng Dynasties,and reached their peak in the Qing Dynasty.After 1895,the development process of traditional gardens,which was originally in its heyday,was interrupted by Japanese colonists,and the idea of a park in Western Europe was introduced to Taiwan through Japan.Secondly,Taiwan’s superior natural resources,Japan’s survey data on Taiwan,and land consolidation constituted the foundation of the park.Under the influence of the park theory and the foundation of the park,the Taiwan Park was born.Based on different motivations and backgrounds,the development of modern parks in Taiwan has formed three stages.The first stage:the establishment of the early parks in modern Taiwan.In order to improve environmental sanitation and build a rest space,an early park focusing on natural landscapes was born.Taking Yuanshan Park and Pingtung Park as examples of early park types,in-depth analysis of its construction process,construction purpose and characteristics;The second stage: the construction process of the urban park system in Taiwan.Under the influence of western urban planning,urban parks and park systems have developed with municipal planning.Taking Taipei New Park,Taichung Park,Tainan Park,and Chiayi Park as examples of urban park types,the park planning is analyzed through macro-level municipal planning History and park system,through the micro-level park facilities and park layout,analyze the characteristics of urban parks;the third stage: the construction process of natural parks.The concept of ecological protection,leisure and tourism industry and expo guide the construction of natural parks,taking Xingao Alishan Natural Park,Takao Taroko Natural Park and Datun Natural Park as examples of natural park types to analyze the characteristics and image of natural parks.Finally,the author compares the building foundation,motivation,planning and construction,overall layout,location,landscape,facilities and other aspects of different types of parks,sums up the stage characteristics,construction purposes,spatial construction,and value significance of Taiwan’s parks in modern times.Wanted to give modern park research and current park construction provide some reference value.
