With the development of the times,modern engineering projects are becoming more and more huge and complex,and their cost overruns and delays in construction periods are not uncommon.According to some data,resource costs account for up to70% of the cost of engineering projects,resource optimization is a key point in the realization of engineering project objectives.There are two types of problems in resource optimization: one is the limited resources with shortest duration problem,and the other is the fixed construction period-resource balance problem.This paper studies the second problem.According to the actual background and significance of modern engineering projects,this paper puts forward the importance of resource balance optimization.Through the analysis of the research status of resource balance optimization at home and abroad,and comparing the basic principles of Subset Simulation,it is proposed to use Subset Simulation to solve resource balance optimization problem.The article first introduces the related theories of resource balance optimization,including network planning technology theory,resource balance optimization assumptions,resource non-dimensional processing,resource relative weight confirmation,similar resource processing methods,evaluation index of resource balance optimization and etc;Secondly,the fixed construction period-resource balance optimization problem is divided into single project and single resource balance optimization problem,single project and multi-resource balance optimization problem,multi-project and single resource balance optimization problem and multi-project and multi-resource balance optimization problem,through the transformation from multi-project problem to single-project problem and from multi-objective problem to single-objective problem,it is proposed that the single-project multi-resource balance optimization problem is the key to the fixed construction period-resource balance optimization problem,and the standard deviation is selected as the evaluation index of resource balance optimization to obtain the objective function model of the single-project multi-resource balance optimization problem.Then,the basic principle,algorithm implementation,advantages and disadvantages of common optimization methods for resource balance problems are analyzed.Combined with the disadvantages of unstable iterative results,large number of search sample points and the nature ofresource balance optimization problems of common optimization algorithms,Subset Simulation is proposed to solve resource balance optimization problems.Then,according to the objective function model,the Subset Simulation is applied to the resource balance optimization problem,and the detailed steps for the Subset Simulation to deal with the resource balance optimization problem are designed,including calculation of failure probability,determination of iteration termination condition,selection of encoding method,design of decoding process,calculation of objective function value,selection of critical value,determination of intermediate failure event,supplement of sample points,cyclic iteration and selection of final starting scheme,etc.Finally,two actual cases of single project and multiple resources are selected for verification and analysis.MATLAB programming is used to realize the balanced optimization of project resources by Subset Simulation.Compared with Genetic Algorithm and Monte Carlo method,it is found that it is feasible and efficient to use subset simulation to deal with the balanced optimization of resources.This paper takes the lead in proposing to use Subset Simulation to solve the problem of fixed time limit for a project-resource balance in the field of resource optimization,summarizes the conclusions obtained in the research process in detail,and makes some prospects for the future of Subset Simulation in the field of resource optimization.
