Regional Adaptability Expression Of Building Materials In Lhasa Area

Lhasa is located in the alluvial plain of the Lhasa River and in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,the southwestern border of China with a high altitude.Under the impact of modern architecture,Lhasa’s architecture is uniform,lacking of regional characteristics,and there is no basis for the choice and use of building materials.How to use building materials to create suitable regional characteristics of the building is the focus of this paper.Studying the expression of regional adaptability of building materials in Lhasa area can provide theoretical basis for the selection and use of building materials in Lhasa area,and has important significance for building a good ecological environment and inheriting Tibetan culture.The main content of the article is divided into six parts,which can be summarized into four themes.Firstly,the regional characteristics of climate,landscape,religion and culture,living habits and aesthetic preferences in Lhasa area are summarized.Then,the current situation of the expression of regional adaptability of building materials in Lhasa area is analyzed.It is found that the use of building materials in Lhasa area has insufficient thermal insulation performance,traditional thermal storage materials need to be inherited,abuse of material color and texture,and the production and use of materials.In order to solve the problems of resource waste and environmental destruction,three main ways of regional adaptability of building materials in Lhasa area are put forward:adapting to the climate conditions of Lhasa area,responding to the ecological landscape of Lhasa area and connecting with the regional culture of Lhasa area,which provide the correct direction for the regional expression of materials;on this basis,the use of modern thermal insulation materials and inheriting and developing traditions are put forward.The strategies of regenerative materials,materials with simple texture,simple color,simple and warm color,and recycled building materials are used to express the regional adaptability of building materials in Lhasa.Finally,the combination scheme of material use is put forward based on the strategy of material expression.Starting from the regionality of Lhasa,this paper uses the methods of literature collection,field investigation,thermal environment test and questionnaire survey to deeply understand the regionality of Lhasa and the current situation of building materials use.Through subjective evaluation,comparative analysis and other methods,combined with the relevant theories of architecture,architectural climatology,architectural aesthetics and ecology,this paper analyses the main ways of expressing the regional adaptability of building materials in Lhasa from three aspects:regional climate,regional landscape and regional culture,and puts forward the strategies of expressing the regional adaptability of building materials in Lhasa.The study shows that there are three main ways to express the regional adaptability of building materials in Lhasa,which are adapting to the climate conditions,responding to the ecological landscape of Lhasa and connecting the regional culture of Lhasa.In order to adapt to the climate conditions in Lhasa,the materials with different thermal insulation and thermal storage properties are used,and the ecological landscape and regional culture in Lhasa are responded by the strategies of material texture,color and texture.These strategies provide a reference for the selection and use of building materials in Lhasa area,and solve the problem of regional lack of building materials in Lhasa area.It provides reference for the expression of regional adaptability of building materials in other areas.
