There are many pipelines involved in engineering application.The pipe erosion caused by particles transported in pipes is a major concern in industry process.The erosion rate of elbow is more than 10 times of the straight section.In this paper,CFD fluid simulation technology was used to analyze the flow field,particle trajectory and maximum erosion zone in the elbow.The erosion law of elbow was explored.Then,combining the standard elbow and the erosion law of elbow,a new type of elbow was designed to decrease the erosion of elbow.The main contents and results are as follows:(1)In this paper,the flow fluid model,particle discrete phase model,particle-wall interaction model and erosion model were used to build the simulation model.Comparing the velocity distribution and erosion rate in the pipe obtained by the simulation model with the experimental data,good agreement between the predictions and experimental data was observed;(2)the relationship between the maximum erosion rate and the location of the maximum erosion zone with the particle size,the pipe velocity and the pipe geometry was analyzed.The results show that the Stokes number for particle motion in the elbow has a certain effect as the particles move with the eddy but has no decisive influence on the location of the maximum erosion zone;the erosion zone is directly related to the particle diameter;the maximum erosion zone will change with the increasing radius of curvature and the particle diameter.(3)the erosion law is used to design the new type elbow.the efficiency of erosion reduction,structural strength and resistance of the pipeline were analyzed and verified under different flow rates and particle sizes.the result shows new type elbow can reduce the erosion of elbow by 10% and 40%;With the increase of particle diameter and flow rate,the efficiency of erosion reduction decreases gradually.Compared with the standard elbow,the new type elbow hardly increases the resistance,but the maximum stress increases by 20%;...
