Railway transportation plays an important role in China’s transportation industry.Increasing the speed of locomotives can effectively improve the efficiency of railway transportation and meet requirements of economic development.As the locomotive speed up,the weight reduction of the locomotive becomes increasingly significant.The lightweight of the locomotive can effectively reduce the traction power,improve the stability of the locomotive operation,reduce the running noise,inhibit track damage caused by locomotive operation,and save maintenance costs.In the lightweight design of locomotive bogies,this paper broke through the traditional concept and studied the feasibility and reliability of using new materials.Spray forming is a material preparation technology developed on the basis of Rapid Solidification Process.Spray forming can not only improve the physical and chemical properties of existing aluminum alloy materials,but it can also develop high-strength aluminum alloy which cannot be produced by conventional process.The high-strength aluminum alloy material prepared by spray forming can greatly reduce the weight of locomotive parts,and replace some key stress components.It has a good application prospect.In this paper,spray forming high-strength aluminum alloy material is used to develop the Locomotive Bogie Axle-box Rod,and the static strength and fatigue test are carried out to provide a basis for product application.The main research contents are as follows:Firstly,product design is carried out according to the design input and working condition of the Locomotive Bogie Axle-box Rod,and the model is established by SolidWorks.The model is imported into ANSYS Workbench for finite element calculation.The static strength and fatigue strength of the rod under various working conditions are analyzed,and the product design can be determined to meet the requirements of use.Secondly,the production process of the rod for the new aluminum alloy material is researched,the process route to ensure the mechanical properties of the product was found,and the sample of the rod was trial-produced.The new one reduces more than 60% of the weight compared to the original rod,achieving a better weight reduction effect.Finally,static strength and fatigue tests are carried out on the sample of rod,and the test results are analyzed to verify the rationality of the product design.
