As one of the most important functional hubs of modern general hospitals, outpatient department is also the first window facing patients in the process of hospital treatment. The internal public space is often the most crowded area in the medical building, which has a great impact on the overall streamline organization and efficiency of the hospital.Architects often rely on the subjective judgment of users and the summary of previous research experience, but lack of objective analysis of the deeper level of space.Space research is one of the most essential contents of architecture, and also the difference between it and many other related disciplines. In this paper, topological network theory is used to analyze the public space of the outpatient department, and the space and spatial connection mode is taken as the core to conduct in-depth research on the hospital building. In this paper, four different outpatient layouts of mainstream general hospitals were selected as the research objects to analyze their topological networks.By using convex polygon method, the architectural relationship diagram and quantitative analysis model of various outpatient layouts are constructed.Through field survey data collection, topological network modeling and analysis platform calculation, the relevant calculation variables obtained prove the high correlation of various mainstream outpatient layout forms, and summarize their public space into two different combination modes. In the end,the topology patterns of these two public space combination patterns are mined, and three different topology network patterns, namely basic configuration,self-coupling configuration and cross-coupling configuration, are used to provide preliminary strategies for the selection and design of public space topology network in the outpatient department of general hospital in the future. The second part gives a theoretical overview and pilot study of the outpatient department of general hospital from the aspects of spatial characteristics, use process, functional division and mainstream layout. The third part fully proves the feasibility of topology for outpatient space analysis and deduces the quantitative calculation method of building plane by using topological geometry variables, and preliminarily obtains the research program of quantitative analysis of public space in outpatient department of general hospital by using topological network. In the fourth part, through field research, data collection and induction, and depthmap analysis platform calculation, data distribution characteristics of different types of outpatient planar nodes are finally summarized. In chapter 5,the connection modes of two different types of outpatient public Spaces are classified, and the selection and design strategies of outpatient public Spaces from the perspective of topological network are obtained. The sixth chapter summarizes and prospects this paper, summarizes the theoretical innovation and achievements of this paper, and the future medical architectural design for a higher level of development and prospects.Based on a large number of case studies and quantitative analysis of data, this study summarizes the design of outpatient department of general hospitals at the present stage, and summarizes the topological network configuration of outpatient public space and its possible future development trend,so as to explore new exploration paths and research ideas for today's hospital building research.
