During the last 28 years,in 2018 for the first time the production and sales volume of the automobile industry showed negative growth,the automobile industry is facing unprecedented pressure.The competition between enterprises becomes increasingly fierce.In order to adapt the requirements from market,OEM keep introducing new modes or replacement generation,the developing time left to component supplier from product concept to market becoming shorter and shorter.There is increasing demand for engineering changes either from OEM or supplier under such a fast changing and time critical environment.How to better manage engineering change,speed up the responding of engineering change,strengthen the control of engineering change process,evaluate the effect of engineering change implementation and execute lessons learned is an important part of enterprises to enhance their competitiveness.This paper analyzes the current status of engineering change of company B,and gradually analyzes the problems existing in company B's current engineering changes and finds out the main causes of these problem.In view of the incomplete and unscientific evaluation of the engineering change result,the paper attempts to use the fuzzy evaluation method to comprehensively evaluate the results of engineering change implementation.Firstly,a multi-objective and multi-level evaluation index system is designed from three aspects of product performance,economic benefit and time,and then the principles and methods for index quantification and weight determination are proposed.This method can quantify the qualitative indicators through conversion and calculation,and the objectivity of the result can be guaranteed to a certain extent.In addition,the implementation result is comprehensively considered.The final evaluation results provide guidance for judging the merits of engineering change execution,can help find the reasons for failure to meet the expected goals,earn from the success results,improve the inadequacy in the evaluation or implementation for futures projects.As for low efficiency of the change process,imperfect process and numbers of ineffective engineering changes,the process optimization method,closed loop design and strengthen the pre control measures and perfect the change management tools are proposed to make the engineering change more efficient and improve customer satisfaction,which can help company B's sustainable development in automotive component industry.The effectiveness of the method is verified to some extent by using the specific examples of Company B.
