Leaf spring is one of the automotive elastic components, which plays the role of guidance and transmission, and is often used in combination with the independent integral bridge.Gradual stiffness multi-leaf spring is a type of leaf spring. It consists of main spring and auxiliary spring. The main spring does not exceed 4,the auxiliary spring does not exceed 2,and the auxiliary spring can be calendered according to the requirements of stiffness and strength.Gradual stiffness multi-leaf spring is characterized by variable stiffness,in no-load state only the main spring plays a role,at this time the stiffness is linear stiffness;with the increase of load, the secondary spring gradually fits with the main spring, the stiffness becomes non-linear until the main and auxiliary spring fully fits, the stiffness will increase sharply and become linear, the stiffness of the graded stiffness multi-leaf spring is non-linear throughout the working process.Gradual stiffness multi-leaf springs are widely used in the independent rear suspension of mini-commercial vehicles because they take into account both comfort and bearing capacity.Although their structure is simple,it is necessary to reasonably design the load points when the main and auxiliary springs are in contact with each other at the beginning and when they are in full contact in order to take into account both comfort and durability. The common problems are fatigue fracture and abnormal noise.Aiming at the problem of gradual rigidity multi-leaf spring fracture in road test of a mini-commercial vehicle manufactured by a main engine factory, this paper puts forward a structure optimization method based on MATLAB and a simulation analysis process based on Hypermesh and ABAQUS,and proves the correctness of this method and process through bench test and road test, which provides basis and ideas for the forward development and design of this type of gradual rigidity multi-leaf spring.
