In Intelligent Transport System(ITS),the Vehicular Network(VANET)is the main route to support ITS information transmission.VANET realizes vehi cle information transmission through wireless terminals, sensors etc devices.V ehicles can establish communication with road auxiliary communication faciliti es,and also can communicate directly with each other through wireless comm unication.High efficiency and safe data transmission of VANET is the found ation of ITS system. In the future ITS system, the vehicle can connect with any transaction at any time and any place, which is the difficulty and challen ge for the development of VANET in the future. However, the routing protocol is the technical basis of VANET and the difficulty of vehicle networking, which will affect the performance of VANET network.Compared with other networks,VANET has the following characteristics:high-speed vehicle movement, rapid change of vehicle structure layout, uneven distribution and subjective influence of drivers. These problems undoubtedly increase the difficulty of VANET routing protocol design. In this paper, the routing protocol under the environment of VANET is studied, and the requirements and problems of the routing protocol design of VANET are analyzed. An improved protocol named OVGPSR(Optimize Vehicle Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing)based on GPSR protocol is proposed. This protocol considered the vehicle's speed information, node energy consumption, and the deflection angle of intermediate node, source node and destination node into the routing calculation. The improved heuristic ant colony algorithm was used to predict the intermediate node in non-base station auxiliary mode, which can effectively predict the topology transformation of VANET network,so that the vehicle network has the capability of dynamicnetworking. The node energy consumption was added into the routing calculation, which could balance the traffic load and reduce the energy consumption load of vehicles. In the aspect of application scenarios, the application scenarios of OVGPSR protocol were divided into two types according to the different network layout and composition: full AD hoc network communication without relying on roadside base stations and auxiliary communication with road base station.Vehicles can use Beidou,GPS and vehicle sensors to collect vehicle information such as position, speed, energy consumption, and so on to assist the establishment of routing. In the design process of routing protocol, the implementation and experimental research carried out by simulation were very important part.In this paper,OPNET software was used to implement and experiment the OVGPSR protocol.Process, node, network and wireless channel models were set up,the modeling method and process were analyzed in details and protocols were applied in two scenarios: V2V(networking between vehicles)and V2I(networking between vehicles and road equipment). The simulation results of OVGPSR and AODV(Ad Hoc on-demand Distance Vector Routing),GPSR(Perimeter Stateless Routing)and GRP(Geographic Routing Protocol)were compared and analyzed by the simulation platform. The simulation results showed that the designed OVGPSR routing has superior performance compared with the traditional protocol.
