| Engineering-Procurement-Construction(EPC)mode has become the main project management mode, under the EPC mode, the general contractor assumes most of the risks in the design work.Design work is the foundation of project implementation, and improper risk management in the design stage will have an important effect on project cost, construction schedule, project quality, etc. However, the existing studies rarely deeply analyze the design risk factors that lead to the EPC project design risk and carry out risk management for each risk factor. This thesis aims to systematically identify the risk factors in the design stage of EPC project, construct the risk evaluation system of EPC project’s design stage through the factor analysis method, and conduct risk management for each risk factor in the design stage based on the actual cases.Firstly,a total of 23 risk factors of design stage were identified by exhaustive related literature review and interviews.Secondly,a questionnaire was designed based on these identified risk factors, and then a broad questionnaire survey was conducted with construction practitioners who were asked to rate the impact of each risk factor of design stage on EPC project after which 168 valid response were received.Thirdly, descriptive statistical analysis and exploratory factor analysis were performed on the collected data, and six public risk factors were obtained, including design quality risk, design capability risk, design information risk, designer risk, design communication risk and design environment risk, the EPC project’s design stage risk evaluation system is constructed based on this basis. Finally, taken the EPC project of Chengde branch of an applied technology university in Tianjin as a case, risk management was carried out for each risk factor in the design stage according to the weight of each public risk factor. It is proved that the risk evaluation system of EPC project’s design stage can play a positive role in the risk management. |
