Traditional academy architecture is an important cultural and educational architecture in ancient Chinese architecture.The term Chinese academy first appeared in the Tang Dynasty,flourished in the Song Dynasty,did not fall in the Qing Dynasty,but in the academy architecture decorative patterns are particularly important.Chinese traditional patterns from the embryonic form of primitive society until the Ming and Qing dynasties constantly rich and mature,architectural decorative patterns not only have decorative role,but also the accumulation of social culture.Traditional patterns are widely used and are constantly changing and updating.However,since the fall of the Qing Academy,school buildings to school buildings gradually replaced college buildings into our lives.With the impact of foreign culture on Chinese culture,there are more elements of culture and education In favor of westernization.This is also due to the lack of attention to the college architecture,the lack of research on the decorative patterns of the college architecture,most of them are studying the college education system,the college space layout,the college landscape and so on.Through the investigation and analysis of the architectural decorative patterns of the academy,this paper summarizes the three traditional academies which have the most research value: Yuelu Academy in the south,Yuelu Academy in Hunan,Bailudong Academy in Jiangxi and the north,Songyang Academy in Henan,and three traditional academies which are well preserved and most representative in culture and education architecture.Three traditional academies also have great cultural value.Yuelu Academy:in 1956,it was listed as the key cultural relic protection unit of Hunan Province,and in1988 as the national key cultural relic protection unit;Bailu Cave Academy: in 1959,it was listed as the provincial key cultural relic protection unit;in 1988,it was listed as the national key cultural relic protection unit;Songyang Academy :1961 was listed as the national key cultural relics conservation units,2010 Academy and surrounding ancient buildings were listed as the world cultural heritage.This paper makes a brief analysis of the historical background,geographical environment and spatial layout of the three academies.Based on the study of the images,the paper studies the decorative patterns of the three academies' buildings,such as roofs,beams and columns,doors and windows,gables,algae wells,stone bars,stone tablets,pavilions,etc.This papermakes a comparative analysis of five aspects: quality,carving technique,color and decorative style,and summarizes the concrete manifestation of the differences in decorative patterns of the three academy buildings and the geographical,social and humanistic factors that affect their emergence.
