A Study On The Reuse And Reconstruction Design Of Beijing Traditional Courtyard Building

Courtyard building is the most basic form of Chinese architecture,which is the comprehensive embodiment of our Chinese culture,art and thought for thousands of years.From north to south,whether large-scale palaces and temples or traditional residential buildings,their forms will be affected by local climate,topography,population,traditional etiquette and so on,but the most fundamental form is still a courtyard building mainly composed of wood structure.Most of the existing traditional courtyard buildings in Beijing were built in Ming and Qing Dynasties.After the founding of the people’s Republic of China in 1949,some traditional courtyard buildings were occupied by relevant government units.And because of the environmental and economic constraints at that time,the administrative center was built along Chang’An Street,which resulted in the demolition and destruction of many courtyard buildings in the old urban area.Until the 1980 s,Mr.Wu Liangyong’s transformation of juer Hutong made Beijing courtyard building have a clear transformation practice and opened the protection of traditional courtyard building.Since then,artists,scholars,more and more people have participated in it,and the transformation of traditional courtyard buildings has gradually increased,and has continued to this day.The courtyard that ShiMen company is about to enter is a miniature of it.This courtyard is a typical compound building.Its predecessor is a temple.After the founding of the people’s Republic of China,this courtyard has the same fate as other occupied compound buildings.There are also many private buildings in the courtyard.At present,only the hall of Mahavira and the hall of heavenly kings are close to the original form.In 1989,it was designated as a district level cultural relics protection unit by the XiCheng District Government of Beijing,and has been used as dormitory and office space ever since.For the transformation and reuse of the office space of the courtyard,it is also for the consideration of the current situation as an office.Secondly,there are not many theories about the transformation of the office space of Beijing courtyard.Therefore,for the reconstruction of the courtyard: first of all,based on the principles of authenticity,identifiability,reversibility and sustainability;based on the concept of literati space and office life,mainly according to the needs of ShiMen company,the new buildings,landscapes and interior design of the courtyard;based on the continuation of the tradition,the style is integrated into the modern sense,making the courtyard a traditional and modern one Space.Finally,on the basis of grasping the theory of Beijing traditional courtyard building,it explains the feasibility and advantages of Beijing traditional courtyard building as office space transformation.
