Along with the development of social economy and human civilization, the aging of the population is increasing, and the issue of old-age care is becoming a common problem faced by all countries. For China, the old-age community as a new model of old-age care is being constructed and implemented in large numbers. However, most of the old-age community buildings are similar to ordinary commercial houses, with multistorey buildings or high-rise apartment buildings.Closed apartment building space is difficult to provide psychological care for the lonely elderly,it is more to meet the material needs of the elderly, and emotional and spiritual needs are difficult to achieve.Based on the background of population aging, this project takes the construction space of the old-age community as the research content, and takes the elderly with different health levels as the research object.Combining multidisciplinary theories such as sociology, demography, gerontology, social psychology, communicative behavior, ecological architecture, landscape environment and ergonomics,Objective analysis of old-age community buildings using case studies and field research. In the “traditional courtyard space”,we try to find a form of architecture that combines with the modern old-age community to meet the physiological, psychological, behavioral characteristics and spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly. The purpose of this paper is to explore the necessity of combining traditional courtyard space with the old-age community, and to apply it in the “Longmen Mountain pension community” project. The author intends to integrate the traditional courtyard culture of China's thousands of years of history development and the courtyard lifestyle that is easy to communicate into the construction of the old-age community through this research and design. In the end,the elderly can find the "home" general sense of security and belonging in the courtyard, return to the collective, return to nature, and return to a spiritual real life.
