In a modern classification system,the genus Conidiobolus belongs to Ancylistaceae,Entomophthorales,Entomophthoromycetes,Entomophthoromycota.These fungi are widely distributed throughout the world as one of the important groups in the entomophthoroid fungi.It is widely distributed in soil and decaying leaves,sometimes isolated from keratin,living ferns and rotten vegetables,some have been reported as pathogens of insects and animals.The Dabie Mountains are located in the west and northwest of Anhui province,and belong to the warm and humid monsoon climate zone of north subtropical zone,which has the characteristics of typical mountain climate,mild climate and abundant rainfall.The area has many national and provincial nature reserves with complete natural vegetation,above 70% forest coverage rate and the diversity ecological system which is suitable for the growth of the Conidiobolus species.In this study,the nature reserves of Tiantangzhai,Yaoluoping,Mazongling and Manshuihe have been choosen for the isolation of Conidiobolus from October 2015 to June 2016.More than 50 strains have isolated and 9 Conidiobolus species have been identified preliminarily based on the morphological characteristics,including 5 known species: Conidiobolus coronatus,Conidiobolus heterosporus,Conidiobolus thromboides,Conidiobolus lachnodes,Conidiobolus macropapillatus;2 new species: Conidiobolus dabieshanensis and Conidiobolus yaoluopingensis;2 uncertain species: RCEF6332 and RCEF6335.The molecular identification has been launched to the 9 Conidiobolus species which have been identified preliminarily based on the morphological study.The phylogenetic tree has been constructed by the method of the Maximum parsimony(MP)and Markov Chain Monte Carlo(MCMC)based on the sequences of 28 S rDNA combined with the molecular datas of more than 20 Conidiobolus ex-types.Three main Clades were showed on the phylogenetic tree.9 Conidiobolus species were highly supported in the phylogenetic tree with 2 new species.The result of molecular identification was basically consistent with the result of morphological identification.2 uncertain species are new species based on the molecular identification,but the exact taxonomic status need more morphological evidences.The species identification of the Conidiobolus fungus based on the morphological study and molecular data are needed for its high heterogeneity.This study is to investigate the resources of the Conidiobolus fungi in DaBie Mountains in the west of Anhui province,and 9 Conidiobolus species have been isolated and the taxonomic status of 7 species have been clarified.Meanwhile,this study is to rich the resources of the Conidiobolus fungi in China as well as able to provide more Conidiobolus strains to a further study on phylogenetic relationships of the genus Conidiobolus in future.
