Some rotating lines,ropes in some machines and simple devices may tie together under turning load condition.This may harm the instrument or equipment,break the lines or ropes,or even cause serious personal casualty accidents.Swivels may prevent the lines,ropes from turning and knotting together because they can automatically release the torque occurring in the turning devices.The swivel discussed here is a very small component mounted near to the end of fishing tackles to prevent the fishlines twisting together.In our country,the fishing swivels are fabricated at low production efficiency and in high operator labor intensity for these existing manufacturing equipment must be operated manually.It is under the circumstances of automation requirement in industry that we design an automatic forming machine for the fishing swivel.The key technology of automatically fabricating the swivel by machine being designed is mechanically to realize the process of assembling the beckets into bushing in the swivel and then shrinking the bushing.This paper firstly analyzes the process of shrinking bushing,and discusses various shrinking principles.Comprehensively consideration according to the difficulties to realize the assembling and shrinking process by machine,the level of automation and fluency in the fabrication,a group of mechanisms,which can realize the above processes,are chose and optimized.To ensure the motion coordination among execute links in the machine being designed,the movements and the coordination among execute links are analyzed and their moving time required by the links at different steps of the assembling and shrinking process are designed,and the cyclogram of the machine is set up.The motion parameters,such as crank angle between two limit positions,the coefficient of travel speed variation,the teeth numbers and module of the gears in the machine are developed or selected.For the machine being designed must be suited for manufacturing different types of swivels and different types of swivels have different sizes,the crank-rocker mechanism,which can reverse the movement of the main shaft in the machine,are especially synthesized to get the ideal link lengths to ensure versatility of the machine being designed.The power required in the shrink step is calculated,and the distribution of stress and strain in the bushing is analyzed by the finite element software and some of the corresponding influence factors on the shrinking process are discussed in this paper.Based on analyzing the principle and configuration of each mechanism of the machine being designed,we use the Pro/E software to model the three-dimensional solid entities of the parts and components in the machine and use the software's assembly module virtually to assembly its virtual prototype.The interference among parts or components is checked to eliminate the unreasonable structure in the machine.Furthermore,the motion simulation module in the Pro/E is used to simulate and analyze the motion of the shrinking transmission system.The animation of the motion simulation can be used visually to observe the movements of each member,especially the main shaft,at any time,and kinematic characteristic curves obtained can be used to analyze the motion performance of the machine being designed.Furthermore,stresses and strains of the main parts in the machine are analyzed by the finite element method to ensure the safety and reliability of the machine.Rolling shrink forming machine for swivel discussed here is innovatively designed,its solution and the procedure and method of its implementation have certain instructive and guiding meaning in the practice of automatically manufacturing swivel.
