In order to explore the effect of Chinese Herbal Medicine(CHM)compound decoction on reproductive performance of caged cocks.80 parental generation Anka red cocks,which weight were 3.6 kg,were randomLy divided into four groups with 20 cocks for each.There were four treatments including control group(I,only drink tap water),low dose group(II,3 m L/L CHM),middle dose group(III,5mL/L CHM)and high dose group(IV,7m L/L CHM).The cocks were taken measure of semen quality at the end of pre-feeding period,the 20 th day?40th day?60th day?80th day to determine the differences in semen antifreeze,fertilization rate of hatching egg and hatchability of fertile egg and hatching egg quality.The results were showed as follows:1.Routine determination of semen quality: control group was reduced by 17.14%as compared the end of pre-feeding period to 80 th day(P<0.05),but the group?,group?and group?was increased by 24.32(P<0.05),50.0%(P<0.01)and 44.44%,respectively(P<0.01).While control group was decreased by 4.22%as compared the end of pre-feeding period to 80 th day,but the group?,group? and group? was respectively increased by 5.80 %,7.14 %(P<0.05)and 5.71 %(P<0.05),respectively.While the control group was decreased by 3.68% for the semen's density compared the end of pre-feeding period to 80 th day,the revers case for the group?,group? and group? which were increased by 16.39%(P<0.01),18.07%(P<0.01)and 16.73%(P<0.01),respectively.While the control group was increased by 27.55% for the rate of semen's deformity compared the end of pre-feeding period to 80 th day,but the group?,group? and group? was reduced by 10.22%(P<0.05),12.53%(P<0.05)and 10.43%(P<0.05),respectively.2.Effects of differences in semen antifreeze: the control group was reduced by 2.70% for the semen's activity compared the end of pre-feeding period to 80 th day after semen freeze and defrost,but the group,group? and group ? was increased by 28.95%(P<0.05),41.67%(P<0.01)and 35.13%(P<0.01),respectively.While the control group was increased by 2.16% for the rate of semen's deformity compared the end of pre-feeding period to 80 th day after semen freeze and defrost,but the group?,group?and group?was respectively by 10.71%(P<0.05),11.92%(P<0.05)and 11.18%,reduced(P<0.05).3.Effects of fertilization rate of hatching egg and hatchability of fertile egg: The test results showed that fertilization rate of hatching egg of group?,group?,group? were higher than those of control group by 3.67%,5.0% and 3.34%,respectively,and the group?,group?,group? were higher at hatchability of fertile egg than those of control group by 5.68%,8.65% and 7.39%,respectively.The group?is better than group? and group? from above results.4.Effects of rate of healthy chicks after the incubation: the group ?,group ?,group ? is higher at rate of healthy chicks on than those of the control group by 1.7%,2.62%,2.15%,respectively.5.Effect of hatching egg quality: the test results showed that the egg weight,egg-shaped index,eggshell color,eggshell strength,eggshell weight,eggshell thickness,yolk index,yolk weight,albumen weight,protein height,ha unit differences of experimental group were not remarkable improved compared with control group.The results showed that addition of CHM by water could increase the semen's volume of cock,semen motility and semen density,and reduce the rate of semen abnormality.It is also could increase fertilization rate of hatching egg and hatchability of fertile egg,rate of healthy chicks.The sperm motility of semen frozen thawed to a certain extent was improved by CHM,and which could reduce the sperm abnormality rate of cock frozen after thawing.CHM had no significant effect on egg quality.
