As a wood feed,N.cadamba has a rapid growth, strong germination ability, large leaf area,a lot of forage parts, and a high protein content.which has a good development prospect. In this study,a density experiment was conducted and a total of four planting densities were established, namely planting densities of 10cm×10 cm,20 cm×20 cm,30 cm×30 cm,and 40 cm×40 cm,respectively. The effects of different planting densities on yield and forage quality per unit area of N.cadamba and the correlation between density and various traits were studied,in order to propose a cultivation follows and management model with high yield and good forage value. The main findings are as follow:(1)When the planting density is 10 cm×10 cm,the seedling growth of N.cadamba is the fastest, and the harvest height(50-55cm)can be reached in about 45 days;at40×40cm,the seedling height growth is the slowest and the cutting height reaches about 67 days.(2)After the seedlings reach the 45 th day, with the decrease of the density, the average plant height growth is reduced, while the ground diameter growth is increased, and the average plant density is 10 cm×10 cm,20×20cm,30×30cm,and 40×40cm.The heights were 52.32 cm,38.26 cm,30.45 cm,and 20.28 cm,respectively, and the average ground diameters were 5.65 mm,7.26 mm,7.29 mm,and 6.39 mm,respectively.(3)The planting density of 10 cm×10 cm had the lowest neutral cellulose fiber content at harvest, and the other indicators were not significantly different from other densities.(4)According to the overall analysis of relative feed value, animal feed intake, digestibility, metabolic energy and digestive energy, the planting density of 10 cm×10cm is the best.(5)When the seedling height reaches 50-55 cm,with the decrease of the density, the yield of harvested fresh matter is reduced. The yield per mu of 10 cm×10 cm,20×20cm,30 cm×30 cm and 40 cm×40 cm is 1600.8 kg,1400.7 kg,1000.5 kg and466.9 kg,respectively. The dry matter yield per mu is 255.49 kg,222.35 kg,169.26 kg and 117.70 kg respectively..Among them, the yield of fresh material and dry matter under the planting density of 10 cm×10 cm is the highest, reaching 1600.8 kg and 255.49 kg.(6)The stem water content is significantly higher than that of the corresponding leaf, and the density was 20 cm×20 cm.The stem and leaf had the highest water content of 81.2% and 87.0%,respectively;the stem and leaf had the lowest water content at the planting density of 40 cm×40 cm,which were 78 % and 84%.(7)In summary,N.cadamba under the planting density of 10 cm×10 cm reached cutting height in the first time per unit time, the forage quality was superior to other planting densities, and the yield per mu was the highest. Therefore, the planting density of 10 cm×10 cm is the best planting density for the feeding yellow beam.
