This field experiment was conducted to investigate the effection of nitrogen fertilizer and density on yield of flaxand determine the best combination of nitrogen and density.The "Long Ya Za No.1" was selected as the experimental material.The effect of different treatments on leaves area,dry matter accumulation,chlorophyll content,the main agronomic traits and grain yield of flax.The main results are as follows:(1)The leaf area per plant between different treatments at seedling and bud stages of flax had no significant difference.With flax growth,leaves area were significantly differences between treatments.The leaves area under the treatment N3D2 was maximum up to 242.33 cm2.The second was N2D1.At the same density and different fertilizer level,the leaves area under N1 level were decreased with the increased of the density at the seedling,bud and flowering stages and decreased at the end of flowering and fruit stages.The leaves area per plant in N2 and N3 treatments were decreased with the density increased in different growth period.At the same fertilizer and different density level,the leaves area under the D1 densitywere first increased and then decreased with the increased of fertilizerat the budand flowering stages.At the end of flowering and fruit stages,leaf area per plant have beenincreasing with the increased of fertilization amount.It indicated that in the same density,increased of fertilizer at the end of flowering and fruit maturing stages was unfavorable the economic yield of flax.The leaf area per plant at flowering and fruit stages under the treatment of D2N3 decreased.It is conducive to the formation of grain flax.(2)The content of chlorophyll a of flax was rising at growth stage.The content of chlorophyll a under was the highest in the budding stage,followed by N2D2,N2D1,N3D3,N3D1 and N3D2.The change trend of carotenoid content was similar with the trend of chlorophyll a in the budding stage,.The carotenoid contentincreased with the increased of fertilizer.(3)The stem,leaf dry matter accumulation was no significant difference at the seedling and bud stages of flax.The stem dry matter quality was significantly different in N1,N3 level at flowering stage.The stem and leaf dry matter were increased first and then decreased with increased of density.The change The stem dry matter in N3D2 was highestand significant difference with others.The stem dry matter accumulation was first increased and then decreased with the increased of fertilizer under the same density.The pericarp dry matter decreased the grain dry matter increased at mature stage of flax.The dry matter and grain pericarp were decreased with the increased of the density in N1 and N2 level.,The grain,fruit and leaves dry matter distribution ratio increased gradually with the increased of density in N1 level.but the stem dry matter allocation rate is reduced.,,The grain,fruit and dry matter distribution ratio decreased first and then increased with the increased of the density in the N2 level.,The distribution ratio of dry matter in grain was smaller,which was first increased then decreased with the increased of the density in N3 level.The stem dry matter distribution ratio decreased first and then increased with the increased of the density.(4)The flax plant height reduced with the increase of the density at the same amount of fertilizer.The flax plant height was increased with increased of fertilizer at the same density.The plant height of N3D2 was the highest.,fruit number was increased with the increased of fertilizer under the same density.The capsule grain numbers firstlydecreased and then increased with the increased of density in N1 and N2 level.The number of capsules decreased with increased density in N3 level.The N1D3 treatment has maximum number of seed capsule.The number of invalid capsule increased and then decreased with the increased of the density in N1 andN3 level.While the number of invalid capsule decreased and then increased with the increased of the density in the level of N2.The number of invalid capsule increased with the increase of fertilizer at the same density.(5)In the same amount of fertilizer,biomass was increased with the density increasesed.The grain yield firstly decreased and then increased and the harvest index was decreased with the density,increased.T,The biological yield and grain yield reduced,the harvest index increased with the increased of fertilizerin under the D1 density.biomass decreased,grain yield andharvest index first increased and then decreased with the increased of fertilizer under the D2 density.The biological yield increased firstly and then decreased,the grain yield decreased,and the harvest index first increased and then decreased with the increase of fertilizer under the D3 density.
