Monochamus alternatus Hope is the main vector of Bursaphelenchus xylophiluswhich causes rapid death of pine trees.Trapping technology designed for M.alternatus has the advantages of safety, high efficiency.Attractants made of aggregation pheromone and pine volatile compounds have been widely used. This research is to evaluate the effect ofthe age of M.alternatus adults on their responses to semiochemicals, the attractant dispense patterns of various dispensers,non-target arthropods, and seasonal patterns trap catches. The main results were as follows.1.Monochamus alternatus adults showed behavioral reaction to 10 semiochemicals.Newly emerged females reacted to(+)-?-Pinene and terpinolene in GC-EAD studies.Butin the field, only terpinolene attracted female adults that are not sexually mature. This conclusion can be applied to de velop Monochamus alternatus high-efficiency attractant(better control Bursaphelenchus xylophilus).2.We analyzed attractiveness of 3 major semiochemicals of Monochamus alternatus including(+)-?-Pinene,(-)-?-Pinene,and 2-undecyloxy-1-ethanol at ratio of 10:1:0.1.Five LDEP bottles were tested as dispensors.Bottle 1was the best in terms of stable release rate andmaintaining the proportion of the chemicals.Field trapping results also are good.3.In 2016,we monitored the population dynamics of Monochamus alternatus in three locations in Guangdong province.Peak adult emergence occurred from April to June. The number of capture females was 2-3 times more than the males. The above results can provide the basis of technical for the application of different M.Alternatusattractants and different trapscombinations in the field.
