In order to meet the market demand of high quality meat duck,it is necessary to breed the maternal parent for high quality duck breeding.In this study,small-sized Beijing duck(PK?),Taiwan white duck(WS?),and Putian duck(PW?)were hybridized with Cherry Valley duck(Y(?)),and the growth performance,carcass traits,and meat quality of the offspring were determined at 56 days of age.The Pure breeding of small-sized Beijing duck,Taiwan white duck,Putian duck,and Cherry Valley duck were performed as the control groups.The results showed that the body weight and carcass weight of offspring in hybridization were lower than that in Y*Y(P<0.05),but higher than that in PK*PK,WS*WS,and PW*PW groups(P<0.05).There were similar slaughter rate in hybridization groups(P>0.05),but eviscerated ratio in the hybridization groups were higher than that in PK*PK?WS*WS and PW*PW groups(P<0.05).The breast and thigh muscle weight of offspring in three hybridization groups were lower than that in Y*Y(P<0.05),but higher than that in PK*PK,WS*WS,and PW*PW groups(P<0.05).The sebum weight of offspring in Y*WS and Y*PW hybridization groups were higher than that in Y*Y(P<0.05),whereas the sebum weight in Y*PK hybridization groups was lower than that in Y*Y(P<0.05).The abdominal fat weight of Y*PK and Y*WS hybridization groups were lower than that in PK*PK and WS*WS groups,respectively.In addition,the abdominal fat weight of Y*PK hybridization groups was lower than other two hybridization groups.The crude protein contents in breast muscle of Y*PK,Y*WS and Y*PW groups were higher than Y*Y,whereas the fat contents of the three hybridization groups were lower than that in Y*Y(P<0.05).Y*WS groups increased the contents of methionine,isoleucine,lysine in breast muscle,compared with Y*Y and WS*WS(P<0.05).Y*PW increased methionine content in breast muscle,compared with Y*Y and PW*PW(P<0.05).Y*PW had higher heterosis in body weight,carcass weight,Dressing percentage,breast muscle weight,and contents of methionine,tryptophan,and manganese than that of Y*WS and Y*PK(P<0.05).The heterosis of breast muscle contents of protein,isoleucine,leucine,phenylalanine,and iron is higher in Y*PK than that in Y*WS and Y*PW.The heterosis of weight in wing,breast muscle,and collagen is higher in Y*WS than that in Y*PK and Y*PW.In summary,the hybridization of small-sized Beijing duck(?),Taiwan white duck(?),and Putian duck(?)with Cherry Valley duck((?))would improve the growth performance and meat production of their offspring.The performances of hybrid offspring of Cherry Valley duck and small-sized Beijing duck were better than that in the hybrid offspring of Cherry Valley duck and Taiwan white duck or Putian duck.Therefore,the hybrid offspring of Cherry Valley duck((?))and small-sized Beijing duck(?)could be used for breeding of the high quality small-size meat duck.
